The beginning of a new decade is an awesome opportunity to review the last 10 years and also to set some lofty goals for the next 10! Linette’s experience throughout the last decade has been one of personal and professional change which she has used to shape her focus for the next 10 years. It’s always about the people.
Professional change – Linette has worked through the GFC, seen house prices sky rocket, been there for the introduction of Kiwi Saver, interest rate all-time lows, climate change, government changes, social media and accelerated population growth.
Personal change - Linette is the proud Mum of two “amazing humans”; her wee girl is now an independent and beautiful teenager, while her once teenage boy is now a well-travelled and handsome example of the all-round man. She has moved house more than a few times, farewelled too may loved ones and come to terms with ageing gracefully (kind of, she says).
Change is good. That’s her key learning. She notes it forces us to be brave and with the right attitude, we can learn something new every single day.
In the last decade, Linette has sold a lot of property and seen a lot of change, but one thing has remained the same. She still loves her job. No two days are ever the same. She enjoys meeting new clients and especially visiting with old ones. She loves helping generations of family into and out of homes and feels privileged every single time to be a part of the journey.
In the last 10 years, Linette as been involved in close to 500 property transactions, half of which have been brand new homes sold off the plans. Looking through the list, she can remember every single transaction. She’s quietly proud of these numbers because Real Estate is not for the faint hearted, but most of all because she’s grateful for those she has met along the way. It’s such an honour to be invited into people’s lives when they are at their best and worst. To be able to support them and provide sound advice whether they are upsizing, downsizing, newlyweds, unwell, in financial hardship and all the other ups and downs that live throws our way.
What will the next 10 years be like? It’s not always about the numbers, the sales or the awards, but it is always about the people.
That’s her focus for this decade.
