Belmont is located between Normandale and Kelson on the Western Hills and covers an area of over 2000 hectares. In terms of population, it is one of the fastest growing suburbs of Lower Hutt. It has easy access to the motorway and is only 15 minutes to Wellington City out of peak times.
Belmont Domain’s combination of the river and bush helps to give the Domain a mature, private and serene character. Enjoy the beautiful and peaceful views of the valley and Wellington Harbour from the Belmont Hills. Belmont contains a variety of subdivisions varying in age and size from rural lifestyle blocks to contemporary 500-600m² sections. This reflects the different styles and ages of houses in the area. The rhododendron garden is renowned for its beauty and draws enthusiasts from far and wide. The river is a huge draw card for people who want to cycle, run, canoe and swim.
The local Scout den, tennis courts and public BBQ areas add further appeal. Its location to two junior schools, and being serviced by most private senior schools via a bus service is fantastic. It is located close to the motorway making for easy commuting. The Domain is a very friendly suburb offering quiet living with a good community spirit therefore I would anticipate good interest
Originally, Belmont was used by Maori as an access route to Porirua, with the first Europeans settling in Belmont around the turn of the century. Belmont became a coach stop for travelers heading north and a 5-hour walking track along the route still remains.
